Formative submission folder for spreads due December 18th

Submit your spreads for the formative assessment in this folder.

Make sure you include all of the pieces and some evidence of your folder structure and use of naming conventions.

Concessionairy Letter Redo

After receiving your grades, many of you are interested in having another go at the letter.

You are welcome to make a copy of the letter document and work on it over the Winter Break. I will accept it for regrading up until January 6th. I will grade it over the exam period and enter any revised grades along with your semester exam grades.

MLA intext citations

Remember, tonight your homework is to look at OWL @ Purdue and figure out how you would format the intext citation for the paraphrased section we looked at in class.

Make a blog post with your answer.

Reflecting on the exam practice

Write a post for your blog using the following questions to guide your reflection:

What did you find challenging about the practice exam?

What did you learn about the real exam by doing the practice exam?

Next spreads...

You have just completed (or are about to complete) the school photo spread for the class/grade you chose and you are going to complete the 'candid' photo page for that class for the Publication Design Semester Exam.

Choose another spread to prepare for submission for formative assessment on December 18th. This spread could be school photo spread for a second class/grade, a spread that has no time constraints such as Mrs. Abassi's message, or it can be a spread for an event that has already taken place. It is your choice.

You will be working on your chosen spread for class time and homework up until December 18th. Remember that you need to take time to work on it in the HS Lab for homework, if you do not have access to InDesign at home.

Mr. Arthur and myself are available to help you with technical and design questions. Make sure that your spread reflects our Instagram theme.

Preparation for Publication Design Semester Exam

For your Semester Exam, you will be completing the second spread for the class/grade for which you have just done the school photo spread. The second spread is the candid, "a day in the life" spread. You can look at last year's Yearbook to see examples.

In preparation for the exam you can contact the teacher/students (depending on grade level) for candid photos and a write up for the spread. You can have all of this ready for the exam session because you will need it to complete the spread. You can also bring sketches of your ideas for the spread.

During the exam period you will spend the time working with InDesign and PhotoShop, as appropriate to complete and submit the spread.

The spread will be graded using the Yearbook Spread Rubric that we have been using in class.

Preparation for the Semester Exam

Today we will be preparing for the Research Semester Exam. For your exam you will have 90 minutes to find and use resources to write an essay to answer a question that you will be given on the day.

You will write your essay on a Google Doc and transfer ownership to me by the end of the exam period.

To prepare for this, today you are going to practice using this past paper. You have the whole lesson to do this, you can find other resources online using Questia, Worldbook, Newsbank or Google to add to the evidence you are using to support your argument.

You will be graded using the following guide
