You have worked to collect data to answer your research question over the last two weeks. What have you learned?
Write a blog post in which you critically reflect on the challenges you have faced designing your data collection for the current assignment. Consider the decisions you have made and how you can apply what you have learned to other aspects of your school work.
This is due before the start of our next lesson.

Your research...
I have commented on the blogs that had posts about your research plans.
Today, you need to start your research. That will look different for each group depending on whether your question can be answered by an experiment, a survey or information from the internet.
If you are designing an experiment, consider all that you have learnt in science when you are putting it together. You will need to consider variables and a control.
If you are designing a survey, consider whether you need a sampling question at the beginning to discover whether the person being surveyed has anything to say on the subject before you try to gather specific data from them. Also, you need to send me your survey before you send it to anyone. Consider it your pilot survey to check for any errors.
If you are gathering data from the internet, start by developing your lines of argument and preparing a note taking strategy.

Testing your research question
Use the criteria we looked at yesterday to test the quality of your research question.
If you think you have a good quality research question, the next step is to consider how you will conduct your research.
Will you use secondary resources? Are those sources available to you?
Do you need to conduct an experiment? What would that look like? Do you have access to the equipment you will need?
Will you conduct a survey? How will you do that? Who will you include in your sample/population?
Before you travel too far along the path of your research with your question, you need to make sure that it is a feasible one. If you cannot find the information you will need to answer the question, then you need to change the question.

Make a copy of the draft to work on. DO NOT work on the draft you submitted to me.
You can find the Google Slide on proofreading your work here. Use this, and my comments on your essay, to guide your improvements to the essay.

Reflection on Essay Writing Process
For your reflection post you could take the time to think about the following:
How did you find writing the essay based solely on your notes and essay plan? Were your notes complete? Did you have enough information recorded to complete the essay? Did your system of linking the information to the sources work when it came to citing evidence?
How did you use your time? Did you make good choices when choosing where and with whom you would sit? How did you anticipate the deadline for this assignment? Did you start on the assignment in time to get it finished?
What did you find when you ran your assignment through Turnitin? What did the originality report say? What do you think it means?
