Now that you have nearly completed the Yearbook, take time to reflect on the process.
Write a blog post for the students in next year's Publication Design class offering advice for them.
Consider the IT skills you have learnt, time management, working with an editor, covering events, and anything else you think the new students might need.
Use headings in your blog post and make sure it is completed and posted by the end of today's lesson.

Timeline for printing the yearbook
The yearbook must be delivered to school for distribution by May 24th and there is a lot of work to do before then, so here are our deadlines for the next 5 weeks.
April 19th - all spread for the the yearbook must be finished because it will be printed entirely and given to the editing team (Ms. Fossum, Mrs. Abassi and Mrs. Puffer).
April 20th - hand over of printed copy of yearbook for final editing
April 23rd - work day to fix edits from the editing team
April 25th - book goes to the printer so we can get a rough draft and see what it will look like as a printed, bound book
May 1st - start presales of the book to the ISOI community
May 12th - all final edits completed and approved by editing team.
May 13th - final files delivered to the printer for printing
May 24th - delivery of printed books from printer

Yesterday you selected an event for which you will be responsible.
Write a short article (in your own words!) about your event and find an image to accompany it (the image must be labelled for reuse).
Post your article, the image and attribution for the image on your blog (Fahd, share yours with me in a Google Doc) by 4pm Friday.
These articles will be used to create the two spreads about the world this year.

Assessments coming up March 13th
March 13th will be a big day for Publication Design. You have three items that need to be submitted:
The summative assessment for the March 7th spread is due on March 13th in this folder
All the edits to the spreads viewed by Ms. Fossum are due on March 13th. Make sure you upload your .INDD files here so that Mr. Arthur can print them.
ALL of the spreads that you have completed should have the final text on them by March 13th, written by you or by someone else.

Preparing for the second round of editing
The edits to the spreads Ms. Fossum has checked must be placed in the applicable Summative folder by noon on Friday February 26th. Please put them in the relevant folder as soon as you think they are ready to go. You can let Mr. Arthur know today that you are done so that he can go ahead and print it ready for Ms. Fossum.
Remember that Mr. Arthur will also be printing all of the new Summative spreads that you have submitted. Make sure that you have made edits to these based on my feedback.
You also have a Summative spread due on Monday February 29th. If you are finished making the changes the spreads edited by Ms. Fossum’s, then continue working on this.

Three spreads for February

Next spreads...
You have just completed (or are about to complete) the school photo spread for the class/grade you chose and you are going to complete the 'candid' photo page for that class for the Publication Design Semester Exam.
Choose another spread to prepare for submission for formative assessment on December 18th. This spread could be school photo spread for a second class/grade, a spread that has no time constraints such as Mrs. Abassi's message, or it can be a spread for an event that has already taken place. It is your choice.
You will be working on your chosen spread for class time and homework up until December 18th. Remember that you need to take time to work on it in the HS Lab for homework, if you do not have access to InDesign at home.
Mr. Arthur and myself are available to help you with technical and design questions. Make sure that your spread reflects our Instagram theme.

School photo spreads
This week is dedicated to finalising the photo spread for your grade.
Find ALL of the student pictures on the server and place them in an appropriately named folder.
Choose the best photo of each student and put it in a sub folder named 'Best'.
Insert the students' photos into the template that your group selected in alphabetical order by first name and label the photos accurately.
Place your finished spreads in this folder on Drive.

School photo spreads with some Instagram style
Spend this week working on a template for a school photo spread for your chosen/assigned grade. Remember, the design has to be suitable for the largest class in your division, which is 24 students in Elementary and Middle School and 20 in High School.
Work on your templates individually. At this time, you do not need to put any photos in the spread but you do need to set up and copy the frames for those pictures.
We will finalise the style guide on Tuesday so that we are all working with the same palette for colour and font choices.
The templates are due at 4pm on Friday. You will place them in this folder on Google Drive.
